The Palazzo dello Sport (Palalottomatica)

The Palazzo dello Sport, located in the EUR district of Rome, is one of the most recognizable multi-purpose arenas in the capital and an excellent example of 20th-century Italian rationalist architecture.

Designed by architects Marcello Piacentini and Pier Luigi Nervi in 1956 for the 1960 Olympic Games, it was built between 1958 and 1960.

The building, also known as PalaLottomatica or PalaEUR, features an impressive dome approximately ninety-five meters in diameter and a fully glass façade surrounding the cylindrical structure, creating a striking visual effect along Via Cristoforo Colombo.

Since its inauguration, it has hosted Olympic competitions, including basketball and boxing events in 1960, and has gradually become a venue for international sporting events, concerts and large-scale shows.

Over the years, it has undergone renovations to become a multifunctional venue capable of hosting conferences, theatrical performances, concerts and various events.

The interior, which can accommodate over eleven thousand spectators, is characterized by a stepped central area that can be adapted depending on the event, as well as an external panoramic terrace overlooking the EUR lake and the surrounding urban landscape.

It is easily accessible thanks to numerous road connections and public transport options, and offers parking facilities, convenient entrances and well-organized spaces to efficiently manage large crowds.
